Garrett Morgan Elementary, one of Lexington's newer schools, sits directly off Polo Club Boulevard in the eastern part of the county. Our faculty and staff are unequaled in enthusiasm and commitment. When you enter our doors, we hope you can sense our love for students, families, and field of education.
I began my teaching career in Fayette County Public Schools and was honored to return as the first principal of Garrett Morgan. I have also served as a third, fourth and fifth grade teacher, a gifted/talented teacher, a curriculum specialist, and a principal of an intermediate school and another elementary school. I graduated from Transylvania University with a Bachelor of Arts degree, and later earned two master's degrees from Morehead State University. My husband and I live in Mount Sterling with our two children, Maggie and Ollie. We love what we do at Garrett Morgan, but it is no easy task. As such, we encourage you to volunteer in our school. Whether you are a grandparent who loves working with individual students, a retired educator with a passion for teaching small groups, or a parent with a few hours to spare each week, we can use you! Please call us, reach out to one of our teachers, or email any staff member, and we will happily identify a way you can support the work at Garrett Morgan Elementary.
